Milani | Moisture Matte Lipstick!

Milani Matte Lipstick Header
Hi dolls!!! I've been MIA since I was taking my not so fun Bar Exam.  But now that thats done let s go back to talking fashion, beauty and all pretty stuff.  I recently bought of a couple of the Milani’s Moisture Matte Lipstick shades and I liked the formula so much that I decided to tell you all about it.  Im a fan of Milani Cosmetics.  They are affordable, easy to find, and great quality items.
These new “moisture matte” lipsticks are infused with grape seed extract and they promise smear-proof wear and mega color that won’t budge. Milani also claims that this is a “matte that not only feels great (yes, you read that right – it’s actually comfy.)” I’m all about a comfy feeling matte, I mean who doesn't like that!!

IMG_2313

I  own a few Milani lipsticks before this line, but never a matter formula before.  Also, I’ve heard they used to have a melon scent that a lot of people detested. So, if you are one of those ladies, you’ll be happy to know these don’t have that melon scent. Instead, they have a light vanilla scent that is pleasant but doesn’t linger too long.
The formula of these moisture mattes is pretty great. They are extremely pigmented and glide on very easily. They do give that matte finish, but they are still creamy enough where you can rub your lips together. It’s almost like a waxy chapstick feeling texture. They aren’t transfer proof but they will last you through a light meal and drinks without having to reapply.  Take a look below, I swatch them on the inside of my hand so you can see the color payoff from each one of these shades.

Milani Matte Lipstick Swatches

Matte Orchid:

Matte Orchid is a bold bright pink fuchsia shade. The intense colors last a long time, about 5-6 hrs on me and they leave a noticeable stain behind. When they were almost completely gone, the stain was clinging to some dry patches on my lips that I had to use makeup remover to get completely off.

Matte Naked:

Matte Naked is a cool medium taupe. When I tried Matte Innocence it was too light for me, so I decided to try Naked since it was a few shades darker. It works very nice with my skin tone and doesn’t make me look like a zombie from TWD! This shade lasted about 4 hours on me.

Matte Confident:

Matte Confident is a striking cool toned brick red. You now I LOVE my reds and this is such a sexy red! I think it’s a great red for any skin tone even for fair skinned girls and would be great for date night because of it’s long lasting formula. I also got about 6 hrs of wear from this shade.

Like I said, the formula of these is very nice. My personal favorites are Orchid & Confident (obviously.) The lipsticks retail starting at $5.99 and you can find them at CVS and Walgreens. Also, Milani is a cruelty free brand which is ALWAYS a plus!

What do you think of these Moisture Mattes? Have you tried any?

Happy Styling!!!

My Go-to Make up Products

Hey Fashionistas!!

I know I've been lost, but this Christmas Break I decided to take some family & Friends time, no distractions allowed.  I'm back now so let's talk beauty! I've received some questions on both Facebook and Instagram about the makeup products that I use on a daily basis. When it comes to makeup, there are certain products and brands that I stay loyal to, but there are also ones that I frequently change. (like mascara & blush) I am constantly experimenting with products and I suggest doing that until you find the ones that work the best for you!   Below you will find a guide of the ones that I tend to keep going back to.  Keep in mind that doesn't mean I don't try other brands or products, these ones are mostly the ones I buy again and again Knowing I will love them.

Like you know I'm more of a BB Cream type of girl, however I do own foundations that I use on special occasions and days.  For years, I was using MAC foundation mostly because I was just used to it.  However, as I have gotten older I realized that it was not really working for me and my skin.  It was too thick and I wanted something much lighter.  I started using Make Up For Ever over a year ago and now I don't think I want to use any other foundation.  It's light, matches my skin tone perfectly and the best part is that it doesn't even feel like I have foundation on.  The downside is that it's a little more expensive, but for me it's worth it!

This is a little trick that I learned from one of my friends who is a make-up artist. Are you the type of person that has a lot of concerns with the dark circles under your eyes?  This is all based on a color theory.  Since our dark circles are typically "blue," the opposite color would be orange so they cancel each other out. I have been using this for a few months now and it's made a big difference.  You only need to use a little bit so this has lasted for a while.

I have the same story with my concealer as I do with my foundation.  Previously for years, I was using MAC concealer and then I made the switch over to Make Up For Ever.  This is definitely one of my favorite concealers and I've seen a big difference from when I started using it. And don't get me wrong, I still love me some MAC products, and I definitely L-O-V-E their Pro Longwear Concealer, in fact its one of my favorites also.

I incorporated this into my makeup routine earlier in 2014 and I love the soft glow that it leaves on my face.  I put it on my cheekbones and by my brows and a little under my eyes as well.  It's a cream-to-powder highlight making it very easy to manage and blend.

I thank GOD and my friend who got me this as a birthday gift.  I use this every single day after applying my concealer.  It can be used as a highlighter, concealer or an all around touch-up tool.  I use it as a highlight specifically underneath my eyes and it really helps to brighten up that area much more.

I have used a bunch of different bronzers and so far this is one of my favorite ones.  I started using it back in November 2014 and I've been hooked ever since.  I love the fact that it's matte because sometimes bronzers can make you look way too shiny.  It also works really well with my skin tone.

I was previously using a blush from MAC that is always sold out whenever I try to get a new one, so in the meantime I got this one.  I actually like it though! This one is very pink so it needs to be blended in well.

I have all 3 palettes but I tend to use this one the most.  I love the neutrals for every day wear.  I tend to mix a lot of different colors together my favorites being Virgin, Half Baked, Smog, Dark Horse and Hustle.  I use Virgin as the highlight and I love putting Half Baked on my lid near the corners of my eyes for a golden shimmer.

I tend to use this palette frequently too.  Some days I use this one instead of the Naked1 or I pack it in my makeup bag along with the Naked Basics and use it for quick touch ups on the go.

This is a must!  I've been using it for over a year and it's one of my favorite products.  It goes on ultra sheer and is perfect for priming your eyes before applying any shadow.  It also helps to keep the eye makeup stay on longer.

As I said I love trying new stuff and products.  Thanks to a friend I came across this little friend.  I must say this is a great way to fill your brows in a bit more.  I then blend it with an eyebrow brush. It's pricey for such a small bottle but it actually lasts awhile.  Make sure you don't put too much on!

I swear by this liner.  I've been using it for a very long time and have no complaints. It comes in different colors and they all last a very long time. I apply it on my lower lid and it really helps to define my eyes.  It stays on majority of the day too and I rarely have to touch it up.

I am constantly trying out new mascaras, but this one just made it's way to the top of my list.  I have only been using it for a couple of weeks, but it's made a big difference with my lashes.  It doesn't clump, it spreads out my lashes perfectly and makes them appear much longer.

When I want to do a little cat eye, I use this liner.  I like it because It definitely makes it much easier to achieve that cat eye effect we all love. NYX its an affordable an easy to find brand so you will have no problem getting it. I just wish there was more liquid in the tube so that it would last longer.

This is my every day liquid liner for my top lid.  The felt tip makes the liner go on super smooth and the black is very bold.  It doesn't smear and it lasts a really long time. For liquid Eye lines I MUST say I also LOVE LOVE the Stila All Day Waterproof Eye Liner.

I am lipstick obsessed and as much as I love my reds, wines and dark colors, I tend to stand to neutrals and pinks for every day  and office wear.  I have a couple of favorites that I keep on rotation, but lately it's been all about Turn On, a rosy pink and Rush a beautiful neutral that goes with every skin color.

I know this post was a long one, but I hope you enjoyed it!

Happy Wednesday & Happy Styling!!!

Makeup Fiction Anyone?? Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Collection

Hello dolls!

Today I feel like Beauty and Fashion Wednesday!! Therefore, I want to talk about one of my current obsessions!!!  Just as the characters in the Pulp Fiction movie, the folks at Urban Decay refuse to do anything half way. The new limited-edition “Pulp Fiction” Collection is ultra-cool and and ultra-glam, just like it’s muse…Mrs. Mia Wallace!  Where you expecting anything less from Urban Decay??

The Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Collection includes several items such as an eyeshadow Palette, Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner, Revolution Lipstick, 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil and Nail Color.

Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Palette ($34)

So I must admit, when I first heard about the Pulp Fiction Eyeshadow Palette, I was afraid the colors might be hard to wear. SHAME ON ME, I should have known better! Inspired by Mrs. Mia Wallaces’ edgy look in the film, this palette contains 5 eyeshadow shades that are beautifully neutral and wearable.  And any eye palette that comes with a good quality makeup bursh is a must for me.
 They’re crazy pigmented and long-lasting.

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner

I'm not the glitter eyeliner girl.  I like really black and matte eyeliners.  However, I can definitely appreciate the way that it pops an eye look. This Gunmetal eyeliner is a black base with black and silver sparkle. And believe that when I say sparkle, that’s not an understatement!

Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Revolution Lipstick

Pulp Fiction Revolution Lipstick ($22)

I'm a FAN of Urban Decay Lipsticks.  If you follow me on Instagram you may now I'm addicted and totally in love with my Rush Revolution Lipstick. Also I'm a sucker for Red tone lipsticks.  This new Revolution Lipstick pays homage to Mrs. Mia Wallace with a deep, blood-red shade that can only be described as amazingly stunning. This creamy lipstick has amazing color-payoff in a must-have shade for Fall. Seriously, if you buy one lipstick for Fall, it should be this one. Bold and beautiful!

Urban Decay Pulp Fiction 24-7 Lip Liner

Pulp Fiction 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($20)

With year I have become a lip pencil fanatic.  Lip pencils help your lip color stay longer, preventing from bleeding and make your look have a perfection accent.  This one is an exact match to the Mrs. Mia Wallace Revolution Lipstick. With Vitamin E, Jojoba and Cottonseed Oil, this lip pencil isn’t drying, like so many are. Good way to intensify the look and wear of the lipstick.

Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Nail Polish

The Pulp Fiction Nail Color ($15)

I'm a fan of all thins red!! This nail color is another must-have for Fall. A gorgeous deep red shade with a micro-shimmer, I love the wearability and durability of this nail polish. This is not a shade you’ll regret buying–it’s seriously beautiful. Urban Decay has “dressed up” the bottle for this collection; instead of the silver cap and skull, it’s black. Love!

Urban Decay Nail Color and Revolution Lipstick

The limited-edition Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Collection is available now at Sephora, ULTA, select Macy’s stores and urbandecay.com. In my opinion if you have to make a choice, the two can’t-miss products in this collection are the Revolution Lipstick and Nail Color…these are essentials for Fall that you won’t regret buying!

Tell me what you think of this collection!!

Happy Styling!!

National Lipstick Day!

Hey Dolls!

Today is National Lipstick Day and while it seems like every day is “National Something-or-Other Day”, as a fashion and beauty blogger, National Lipstick Day is something I can celebrate!  If you know me, you know I love my lippies. Even if I don’t have time to put on makeup, you’ll rarely catch me leaving my house without at least a bit of lip color on.  So I thought it would be fun to round up my favorite lipsticks into three color categories: brights, nudes and bolds.

Have you noticed that a lipstick can totally change your mood or change up your look? That’s why I have so many of them, and for me, a lipstick is one of the hardest makeup products to resist. Every season, the color palettes or formulas change just enough to lure me in. Some of the shades in my collection are limited-edition and no longer available, so I’ve listed a shade that’s close within the same formula.

favorite bright lipsticks-2

My favorite bright lipsticks include:

CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine in 467, Pygmalion [Try Monte-Carlo]
CHANEL Rouge Allure Velvet in 44 La Diva [Try L'Exubérante]
MAC Candy Yum Yum
MAC Pro Longwear Lipstick in shade Love Forever!
Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Defiant Coral
L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Balm Pop in 410 Wild Lilly

favorite-lipsticks-nude-2

My favorite nude lipsticks include:

Tory Burch Lip Color in Pas du Tout
Lipstick Queen Pinky Nude Sinner
CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine in 93 Intime
Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in NAKED
Jordana Twist  & Shine Lip Stain in 05 Honey Love

favorite lipsticks - bolds-2

My favorite bold lipsticks include:

CHANEL Rouge Allure Velvet in 327 La Desiree [Try 47 L'amoureuse]
MAC Rebel Lipstick
Milani Sangria Lipstick
MAC Heroine
Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Berry
NARS Lipstick in Red Lizard
M·A·C Lipstick in Russian Red (Matte)
Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie in Lead the Way
Rimmel London Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss in Shade 107

There are many different ways to apply lipstick, for the bold cream formulas especially, I usually apply a dot of foundation to lips first, then apply the lipstick, blot with a tissue, reapply, then dab on a bit of transparent loose powder to set. I like to use lip liner with almost every shade and texture, it prevents the color from bleeding and it gives you a smooth almost perfect finish to your lips.

Tell us what is your favorite lipstick shade? Put it on and celebrate National Lipstick Day!

Favorite Skin Cleaning Products

Hey Dolls!!

Today I want to talk to you about skincare.  We all have a different routine and in this type of issues you need to remember that there is no right or wrong  approach.  Every skin is different and every person is different, therefore what may work for me not necessarily will work for everyone out there.  However, I have found a few products that I have to say I love above anything else!!  I have very sensitive skin, however it still normal skin, not very greasy nor dry.  Therefore I try to use products that are fragrance and oil free and that are meant for people with either normal or combination skin, depending on the brand.  And Why I mention this lat thing "depending on the brand" because what may be normal in some brands it may be to dry in other, making my skin look flaky and feeling extra rough.  So please take a look at my most love items below and let me know what you think!!

The now famous Clinique 3-Step Skin Care System

A daily cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing regime. Custom fit for dry, oily or combination skin, the 3-Step regimen is designed to help all skins achieve pure radiance. The 3-Step Skin Care System is comprised of Facial Soap to cleanse, Clarifying Lotion to exfoliate and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion to moisturize.  The toner evens out my skin and its gentle, I use it around 2-4 times a week.  The Soap its super gentle, it leave my skin feeling fresh and extra clean while been gentle on it at the same time.  Last but not least the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion which I use every day and I love because its light on the skin, leaves your face feeling like baby skin.  This product also gives you a soft, healthy looking skin and its a great first step before applying makeup.

ABSOLUTE! Make-up Cleansing Tissues

Absolute! Make-up Cleansing Tissues

Since I tried this product I fell in love with it.  I have to say its one of the few make-up remover tissues that actually swipes away all make-up in your face with only one tissue.  They are water based with natural extracts, and they gently and effectively removes all make up even waterproof mascaras and eyeliners while moisturizing and refreshing your skin. I use them every other day whether I have make up on or not, before I wash my face with the clinique system.

Eucerin Redness Relief Cleansing Gel

If my face brush could to talk, I swear it would thank me for using this gentle wash. The gel formula is nice and light, plus, it contains a licorice root extract, which helps smooth skin and balance redness which my sensitive skins needs.

Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

No, this isn't the wrong photo and product name. I actually wash my face with lotion. It's way less drying (duh), but more surprisingly, I've found that it does just as good a job at getting rid of makeup and grime and oil.

Aveeno Clear Complexion & Ultra Calming foaming cleanser

This 2 face cleansers are AMAZING!!  They are gentle in your skin and leave it feeling clean and fresh without been harsh to it.  I tend to alternate them between my clinique system for better results.

Yes to Cucumbers Facial Wipes

"Don't ever go to sleep without washing your face" (thanks, every actress ever and my mom of course!), I still have a hard time following this rule in my own life (which is probably the one reason I'm not an actress). What can I say, I'm lazy! So facial wipes are a must to keep my pillowcases clean and my skin clear – and I’m partial to these affordable ones, which work well and have a fresh scent but don’t leave sticky residue like many others.  This along with the Absolute! ones are my favorites because of the good results they bring to the table.  Trust me you and your face will thank me later.

Let me know what are your favorites Skin Care Products and your thought on the ones I mention.

Happy Styling!!

Battle of the Boxes: Ipsy vs. Birchbox

Hey Fashionistas!!

The time has come.  Let's have a real chat about Birchbox and Ipsy.

This all started a few months ago when my sister-in-law told me about Ipsy.  For those of you that dont know Ipsy is a susbcription box where you pay $10.00 a month and in return you received a small make-up bag everymoht full of different beauty products specially picked for you.  Back in September 2013 I did a little research and signed up to receive it.

I am almost positive that Ipsy is the new name for the initial company called “Glam Bag”. And all I read about Glam Bag reviews is that they were awful. Shipping issues, duplicating payments, etc. So I stayed far, far away from Glam Bag when it first launched.
However, if Ipsy is the new rendition of the original Glam Bag, I’d say they got their mess together. I’ve been receiving my Ipsy bag for 9 months now and haven’t had a single issue with them.

Now, I heard about other subscriptions boxes and that's how I came in contact with Birchbox.  I wanted to try it for a few months in order to be able to choose which one I like best.  I've been receiving a monthly Birchbox for about 8 months now and just like Ipsy I haven't had any issues with them. However something I do have to say its that for the past 2 months the Birchbox mail has been late, nevertheless they reward their subscribers by adding points to your account that are redeemable for for free products, so waiting a few extra weeks is not so bad after all.

Now for those of you that don't know what any of this boxes are here are some details about each one:

Ipsy:

Ipsy is created by YouTube beauty Guru Michelle Phan. Michelle and her team of stylists have selected products they love, for you to try. Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Members can watch and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using. All for $10 a month.

BirchBox:

Each month, you'll receive a selection of samples. Their samples are source from both well-known brands and emerging gems.  They have women and men boxes. The women’s subscription includes everything from skincare to makeup, as well as fun non-beauty extras. The men’s subscription delivers top-tier grooming products in addition to lifestyle accessories ranging from hip socks to tech accessories.  On their page you have the option of also buying the products you received monthly once you are done with the samples. All for $10 a month.

Similarities:
-Both are $10 a month
-Both send 4-5 products, typically sample sized but sometimes full size.
-Both are personalized based on your beauty profile.
-Both have a points system where you can redeem point for beauty items.
-Both give you options to buy the products once your done with the samples.

Differences:
-Birchbox leans towards the skincare/body care end of things while Ipsy leans almost entirely on the makeup end of the spectrum
-Ipsy arrives in a mailer, with a bag inside
-Birchbox arrives in a box

I pay for both of these subscriptions, and as a regular customer I get one of many variations available each month. So while one month alone might not be enough info to make a decision, looking at the results over several months should give you a good picture of what to expect with each box. Please see below pictures of my bags/boxes for the past 3 months and make your pick!
