The Secret Ingredient....

Hey Fashionistas!!!  So today's post is about a "Secret Ingredient".  It's something you have use, eat, smell, seen, and probably even use as one of the things I will mention in a few.  But for the benefit of those who haven't I decided to share this awesome product with you guys.  What am I talking about?? Coconut Oil.

Coconut has amazing properties, its good for skin care, hair treatment, dieting, you name it.  Coconut is highly nutritious and rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It is classified as a "functional food" because it provides many health benefits beyond its nutritional content. Coconut oil is of special interest because it possesses healing properties far beyond that of any other dietary oil and is extensively used in traditional medicine among Asian and Pacific populations. Pacific Islanders consider coconut oil to be the cure for all illness.

I never would have guessed all the things I would use this versatile oil for! Let me share a few of my favorites (in no particular order), but first I have to say, don’t diss it till you try it. Some of the things may sound weird, but “try it and you may, try it and you may I say.”

#1 Lotion

I have use coconut oil instead of lotion. It hydrates perfectly and it has a slight coconut scent.

#2 Hair Fly Aways be gone

Just a very small amount tames the wild flyers.

#3 Make-up remover

Doesn’t sting your eyes and is all natural.

#4 Diaper Rash

Spread a little on, it helps for minor diaper rash.

#5 Eating

You can eat if raw or even substitute coconut oil for oil and butter in so many recipes with WONDERFUL results.

#6 Hair Treatment

Like mention in a previous post Coconut oil is a great source of vitamin for your HAIR! YES for your hair, if you want more information about it check out this post.

Coconut Hair -- Coconut Oil Moisture Treatment

Hey Fashionistas!! We are all dying to have beautiful, healthy hair right? Hair can feel brittle with the dry air, sun and the continuous use of heating tools can do some serious heat damage to our lovely locks!

I have a cure; a secret that I stumbled on a few years ago and have been loving ever since!

I have been using coconut oil in my personal skin care since I was 16 and let me tell you how GREAT it is for your hair as well!

A few years back in a desperate search to find a cure for my brittle hair, I came across a few articles recommending coconut oil as a moisture treatment. As I dug deeper I found that coconut oil is the oil our hair can absorb better than any other. Coconut oil is meant to be used as a “Pre-Washing” Moisture Treatment. I will walk you through the simple steps for giving your hair that pure moisture it is thirsting for! All you need is: Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, a Clip or Elastic, a Shower and a Cap Hair Dryer (optional).
Scoop out a handful of organic virgin coconut oil. The amount will depend on the thickness of your hair and how long it is.  The important thing about this treatment is to do it with your hair dry.  It cannot be wet since it will repel the oil and your hair wont absorb any. I tend to do it once every 2 weeks or so right the day before I intend to wash my hair, or if I have time during the same day I intend to wash my hair.

Once you have that scoop The oil will begin to melt at the touch of your skin, there is no need to heat the oil before application. It will melt as you massage it into your hair.  They way i do it is I divide my hair into sections and start from the bottom up, to take sections of my hair and apply the coconut oil.  Saturate your hair completely, focusing on areas that are dry.  Once all you hair is full of this amazing oil, comb through to make sure you cover every inch and strand.

Once your hair is soaked with oil, twist your hair into a bun, braid or ponytail. If you decide to do it the night before you can make a braid and sleep it off, and simply wash your hair the next morning.  However, if you do it on the day you intend to wash your hair you can clip it in place by grabbing some hair from your scalp and part of the bun, or use a hair tie to keep it in place.

If you have the time to do this you can cover your hair with a shower cap. and if you wish choose to apply heat or not. Applying heat will open the cuticle of each strand so the coconut oil can penetrate the core faster. Leave the coconut oil on your hair for at least 30 minutes without heat, or 15 minutes with heat. You can use a hair dryer to apply heat over the shower cap. I like to rig a little system so I can sit on the floor and read or play with my kids! If I am busy and need to do other things I will leave the oil on my hair without heat.
Once your time is up wash and condition your hair as you normally would. You may need to wash your hair twice to rinse away all of the oil. I really focus on my roots and try to shampoo my ends as little as needed. Style your hair and be amazed at your soft, smooth hair!

Please Share with me any tips and trick about healthy hair and the use f coconut oil.  If you have your own routine please share it with the res of us fashionistas.

7 tricks you need to know.....

Hello Fashionistas!!!  I KNOW, I'm totally aware  that I've been lost and not posting, BUT this is my final semester at school and I been working in a lot of things at once.  However, I'm finally back and today I want to  give a few beauty tricks or beauty hacks as they are also called that will help you out with 3 important things,  1. TIME, 2. MONEY, 3. HASSLE IN THE MORNING, which are 3 things we all like to save on.  I'm going to share with you a few of my favorites and a few of other one i have found out from friends, YouTube, or wherever.
Now lets get to it.

1. Broken Lipstick -- Sometime we leave our lipsticks inside the car or at a hot place making them breakable.  A simple and cheap solution is to heat up your lipstick using your blow dryer, not to get to crazy on it, just do it until is "moldy" or at least you can move it around, stop the heat and pass your finger around putting it all together and as even as possible, after that just drop that bad boy in the freezer over night, in the morning it will be as good as new.

2. BB cream your body-- Well as we all know BB creams are an alternative for foundations.  They give you a light coverage while moisturizing your skin and making it look even.  Now has it ever occur to you to use it at other places besides your faces.  Let say you have a bruise on your leg, a scratch in your arm, maybe discoloration or scar in some visible area, well go right ahead and use your BB cream to cover up those areas   and or blemishes you don't want seen in any other part of your body.

3. Sticky Bobby pins - Now your thinking I'm plain crazy.  BUT what I want to know is WHY has nobody invented sticky bobby pins that will literally stick to your hair longer and hold up for a longer period of time.  Well hold on to your chair cause I will give you the recipe for sticky bobby pins.  Simply grab a bunch of bobby pins and spray them with hair spray before putting them in your hair, trust me they will hold on up to 50% more than if you just use regular bobby pins!

4. Static no more - So has it eve happened to you that you wake up and your hair has so much static is impossible to deal with? Well have static no more!!!  When that happens to you feel free to take one of the dryer sheets and rub it trough your hair, that's it, no more static for you!

5. Soft Feet -  If you want really smooth feet, rub your feet with Vaseline put some socks one and go to sleep.  The next morning your feet will be baby smooth!

6. Mascara vs Eye Liner - YES you read right! you can use your mascara as your eye liner.  All you do is get your mascara wand super suuuper close to your lash line/waterline and just kind of touch it under there and it will create the effect of having eye liner on.

7.Eternal Lipstick - So if you want your lipstick to stay all day long here is a trick you can use to make that happened.  Simply apply the shade you desire to use for the day, take a sheet of tissue paper pull it in half, put one of those haves on top of your lips and dust some translucent powder on top of it.  its not going to move or smudge, instead the powder will set the lipstick in place and make it last longer.
